NUS HRLP 4 – HR Systems and Processes – Adapted for Digital Age

According to a Deloitte’s Human Capital Trends report: ‘It’s about HR teams taking up the dual challenge of transforming HR operations on the one hand, and transforming the workforce and the way work is done on the other.’  Also, according to a McKinsey report: ‘The HR team plays a crucial role in forming employee experience. Organizations in which HR facilitates a positive employee experience are 1.3 times more likely to report organizational outperformance.’ This course emphasizes upon the future of HR and building people strategy from business strategy. The course also provides an introduction to agile HR and HR transformation. The course also focuses on a detailed understanding of building HR systems with employee experience at the core.

Prof Michael Jenkins

Michael Jenkins teaches in the NUS Executive MBA programme and is Chief Executive Officer of management consulting firm Expert Humans. Michael has successfully led Leadership Development as CEO of Roffey Park Institute (UK/Singapore); Managing Director of the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) – Asia Pacific; Director, INSEAD Executive Education (Asia) and CEO of the Human Capital Leadership Institute (HCLI).

Throughout his career, he has played a hands-on role in directing research and has been a key contributor and thought leader in the topic areas of organisational resilience, compassionate leadership, and developing more humane and productive workplaces. Michael has also worked closely with UK public health organisations to promote better mental health at work and is active in promoting sustainable business leadership. He works closely with HR Institutes and Think-Tanks such as CIPD (UK and Asia), AHRI (Australia), IHRP and SHRI (Singapore).

The UK’s HR Magazine named Michael as one of the UK’s Most Influential Thinkers in Human Resources in 2013 and again in 2016. He recently joined the UK-based FutureWork Forum (which explores the working world of tomorrow) as a Partner. Ms Shaily Gupta

Chief Advisor – Human Resources Consulting

Shaily Gupta is a Singaporean and possesses over two decades of experience in Human Resources. She has served as the Chief Human Resource Officer with professional services firms like Deloitte Consulting and PricewaterhouseCoopers GHRS Pte Ltd, Singapore.

While at PwC Singapore, Shaily was the project lead for transformation work with one of the Singapore government ministries. She was the chief facilitator for two development workshops for the department heads along with their senior leaders.

A significant part of her experience with companies like Merrill Lynch, Standard Chartered Bank and Edelweiss Financial services has been in business facing roles and required partnering with business & other stakeholders to architect and deliver an HR strategy aligned to business priorities.

She has led large scale change management initiatives to drive impactful organizational changes, including architecting the workforce of the future through Technology implementation & adoption, Leadership Development and Talent Management. Some of these change management initiatives have generated remarkable organisational growth. At Edelweiss Financial Services Ltd. a large Indian diversified financial services enterprise, as the Global Head of Human Resources, she worked closely with the Chairman cum Managing Director as the chief architect for the leadership development framework and developed the organisation structure. During her tenure of approx. 5 years, the organisation grew from 800 to 8000 people and incubated 3 new lines of business.

Driving diversity initiatives and embedding the values of the organization have been an integral part of her responsibilities. She also led the Partners alignment to culture and values in PwC, Singapore along with designing the programme for Directors.
